Dartmoor 

One of the most outstanding areas of England. 365 miles of wild rugged open moorland enjoyed by either car, walking or cycling. Enjoy magnificent granite tors, visit prehistoric settlements. Here all the traces of modern civilisation are left behind. Ponies and sheep roam freely.

Visit the free entry High Moorland Visitor Centre at Princetown, the Dartmoor Prison and its museum or just drive and enjoy quaint towns and villages like Widdecombe, Bovey Tracey, Ashburton and Moretonhampstead.

Tavistock

Largest stannary Market town in west Devon steeped in history with the remains of the Benedictine Abbey still visable. It was also the home of Sir Frances Drake. Now contains many specialists shops such as Crebers, a 100 year old delicatessin, Westcountry Cheeses, antique shops, tea shops and the famous panier Market open Tue, Wed Friday and Saturday for crafts and gifts.
There is also the Warf Cinema, Meadowlands Swimming Pool and picturesque walks along the Canal & River Tay. Numerous pubs and eating houses cater for all tastes ranging from fish & chips to Indian, Italian and Chinese to bistro wine bars and the famous Egon Ronay " Horn of Plenty" near-by.
Lovely walks are to be found locally in the Tamar Valley.
